As the recent outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) epidemic in various regions of China and appealed urgent need of the medical supplies, The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) has instantly called for donations of medical gloves from our members all around Malaysia to the hospitals affected by the epidemic in China to help battle the Novel Conoravirus.
As at 5th February 2020, ACCCIM Constituent Members and office bearers have pledged to donate 3.5 million pieces of medical gloves to be sent to China in batches. Meanwhile, some members continued to express their intention to donate. ACCCIM will decide which medical supplies to be sent to China according to the development of the epidemic.
On 7th February 2020, Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap, President of ACCCIM and office bearers inspected the progress of transportation of the gloves. The attendees include Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Kuang Sia, Deputy President of ACCCIM, Mr. Siang Teck Siong, Vice President of ACCCIM, Dato’ Tan Tian Meng, Secretary General of ACCCIM, Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, Deputy Secretary General I of ACCCIM, Mr. Yap Heng Or, Deputy Treasurer of ACCCIM, Dr. Leong Kai Hin, National Council Member of ACCCIM, Mr. Teoh Kok Lin, National Council Member of ACCCIM, Ms. Chow Mun Seong, CEO of ACCCIM, Dato’ Barry Ong Thai Hean, Deputy Chairman of Welfare Committee of KLSCCCI, Mr. Liu Shaoquan, Vice President cum Secretary General of China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia and Mr. Willy Chen, Managing Director of Sinotrans Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap express his gratitude to all the ACCCIM Constituent Members for the prompt response to the call. At the meantime, he also extended his appreciation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia and the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia for their voluntary efforts in coordinating with the recipient hospitals in China. He also thanked Sinotrans Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd in helping ACCCIM to ship the medical gloves to China at no cost.
ACCCIM will continue to monitor the development of the epidemic, and decide the following actions to be taken in helping to fight the epidemic according to the circumstances and demands. Other than that, in order to raise the public awareness about the nCoV epidemic, ACCCIM will also share a series of relevant information on strengthening personal hygiene and preventing epidemic on our Social Media platform — ACCCIM Facebook.
Tan Sri Ter also urges the public follow the instructions of Ministry of Health to strengthen personal hygiene practice, and demonstrate the spirit of helping other and joint our hands together to fight the virus together.
